My partner, the love of my life, took his own life. The pain and devastation were overwhelming. I lost interest in my businesses, which were already facing challenges from knock-off designs and competition from big brands. It seemed like everything was falling apart.I made the difficult decision to close up shop and take some time for myself. I needed to heal and figure out what was next for me. Navigating through grief takes self-care and time, but eventually, I found myself drawn back to the desert where I grew up. The mountains surrounding Palm Springs and the Coachella Valley became my sanctuary. It was here that I discovered a gap in the market for beauty services that weren't being offered in the desert. So, I took a leap of faith and opened a blow dry bar and a skin and lash spa. These businesses quickly grew, generating almost $1M a year.However, not every decision I made was successful. In 2016, after selling my skin and lash spa, I decided to focus solely on building my blow dry salon into a franchise. But one bad decision led me to buy another salon that turned out to be a huge mistake. After struggling to turn it around for a year, I had no choice but to cut my losses and close it down.Then came 2020—the year that changed everything for all of us. After opening and closing multiple times due to the pandemic's impact on businesses, I found myself at another crossroads. This time, rather than reopening the salon yet again, I discovered something even more fulfilling—I could guide and mentor other women in their journeys. I found my true passion.Life has taught me that no matter how many times you get knocked down, you can always pick yourself back up and start over. I am a firm believer in taking big chances to make big changes.
